Blackpink’s Jisoo Makes Her Solo Debut and Breaks Records

Jisoo’s solo debut breaks records

On March 31, Jisoo's solo debut "ME" took the K-Pop world by storm, shattering records and leaving fans breathless with its jaw-dropping sales of over 850K copies in just one day. Her meteoric rise not only solidified her status as "The Beauty of Korea," but also served as a testament to BLACKPINK's enduring legacy in the industry.

Prior to its release, fans were already buzzing with excitement after YG Entertainment announced that Jisoo's music video for "FLOWER" would be the most expensive in the label's history. And when the highly anticipated video finally dropped, Jisoo effortlessly exuded movie star vibes with her stunning vintage, modern, and 'First love' looks, leaving fans spellbound and utterly smitten.

In short, Jisoo has officially entered her "Legendary" phase, and it's safe to say that the K-Pop world will never be the same again.

South Korean Dictator’s Grandson Apologises

Former president Chun Doo Hwan's grandson, Chun Woo Won apologises

On a more serious note, Chun Woo Won, the grandson of former South Korean dictator Chun Doo Hwan, has made a public apology to the families of those killed in the 1980 Gwangju uprising against martial law.

The military crackdown, which was led by Chun Doo Hwan and imposed martial law, resulted in over 200 deaths or disappearances and included acts of alleged violence such as indiscriminate beatings, torture, sexual assaults, and disembowelments. Surviving eyewitnesses claim that the actual death toll was much higher than the official count. However, Chun Doo Hwan passed away without ever offering an apology for the atrocities committed.

His grandson, Chun Woo Won, praised the courage of those who opposed his grandfather's regime and acknowledged that his grandfather had committed "such a great crime."

He also visited the national cemetery in Gwangju, becoming the first in his family to do so. Some victims' relatives welcomed Chun Woo Won's intervention, as his family had not made a proper apology earlier.

Chun Doo Hwan was convicted of treason and corruption in 1996 but was later released from prison after a presidential pardon. He died in 2021 at the age of 90.
